Agriculture Tractor Insurance Price List 2026 (Approximate)
Tractor insurance price depends on the type of policy — Third Party (TP) or Comprehensive (First Party). Third-Party insurance premium is strictly fixed and regulated by the IRDAI, meaning the base price for third-party liability remains identical across all insurance companies in India. Third party premiums are fixed by IRDAI. Comprehensive premiums vary by IDV, tractor age, and insurer.
| Tractor Model | Third Party (1 Year) | Full Insurance |
| Mahindra 265 DI / 275 DI | ₹8,634 | ₹9,500 |
| Swaraj Tractor | ₹8,634 | ₹9,500 |
| John Deere | ₹8,634 | ₹9,500 |
| Eicher, Sonalika, Farmtrac & Massey Ferguson | ₹8,634 | ₹9,500 |
| Related Attachments / Farm Equipment | ₹8,634 | ₹9,500 |
Note:Final premium depends on IDV, vehicle age (new / used / second hand / pre owned), fuel type (diesel / electric), usage type (agriculture / transport / industrial), city, add-ons, and insurer selection. Premium cost may vary in the market depending on tractor price, down payment, discount offers, servicing history, mileage, bonnet condition, headlight condition, PTO usage, loader/backhoe fitment, and field working conditions.
Type of Tractor Insurance?
Third-party (3rd party) price
It covers liability for injury/death of third parties and damage to third-party property caused by your tractor, plus compulsory personal accident cover for the owner-driver as per rules. It does not pay for damage to your own tractor. It is mandatory minimum cover for legal use of a registered tractor as applicable
For eligible agriculture tractors, TP is charged at a flat regulated rate—not by HP
Comprehensive / first-party price
It covers third-party with own-damage cover for your tractor (accident, theft, fire, many natural calamities etc). It is the most recommended cover for tractor.
There is no single full insurance price for every model, two tractors of the same HP can differ if IDV or city differs.
Add-Ons for Enhanced Protection
Add-ons can be attached to a Comprehensive policy to increase coverage:
- Zero Depreciation Cover — claim the full repair cost without depreciation deduction
- Engine and Gearbox Protection — covers internal engine damage
- Roadside Assistance — help on the spot in case of breakdown
- Consumables Cover — covers nuts, bolts, oils, and engine fluids during repairs
- Return to Invoice — get the original invoice value in case of total loss
- Operator / Paid Driver Personal Accident Cover
What Is the Main Reason for Agriculture Tractor Insurance?
The primary reason to buy Agriculture Tractor insurance is:
To protect your tractor, driver, farm, land, and cultivation operations from financial loss caused by accidents, theft, breakdown, natural calamities, and third-party liabilities.
Since tractors operate daily in fields, steep hills, forest land, vineyards, and rural roads, even minor incidents can cause costly repairs and disruption of farming cycles.
For modern farmers using autonomous, driverless, robotic, RTK-based precision farming tractors, hybrid tractors, methane-powered, hydrogen-powered, electric tractors, protection is even more important.

What is the cost of tractor insurance?
A Third-Party (3rd party) agricultural tractor insurance policy costs a mandatory fixed base premium as per IRDAI guidelines, plus 18% GST. A Comprehensive policy (which covers theft, fire, and field damage to your own tractor) starts from approximately ₹3,200 per year depending on your tractor's age and IDV value.
Does tractor insurance price change based on hp?
For pure agricultural use tractors, Third-Party liability rates set by the government do not vary by hp. However, higher HP tractors usually have a higher purchase cost/IDV, which slightly increases the Own Damage (OD) portion of a comprehensive policy.
Is trolley or trailer insurance included in agricultural tractor insurance?
Standard tractor policies cover only the prime tractor unit. If you attach a trailer or trolley for transporting agricultural produce, you must select the Trolley Add-on Cover during checkout to ensure legal protection for the attached trailer.
Can I get insurance for an old or 2nd-hand tractor?
